Causes Of Traffic Jam In Jakarta

Nowadays, Jakarta’s traffic has always been a big problem for the Government and people. If you mention about the traffic in Jakarta then the image is a big and complex traffic jam all around the street, especially during the rush hours ( 06.00 am to 09.00 am and 17.00 pm to 20.00 pm ).Every morning Jakarta has been always  and always enjoyed with the name stuck. Well, indeed, what can we do, as the center of the capital which will never slept through the night to come pick.  Traffic jams are everywhere in Jakarta. It is hard for people in Jakarta and in its suburbs like Tangerang, Bekasi, Depok, and Bogor to move around. It takes too long than it should be to get to one place from another.

The street in Jakarta also makes  traffic jam in rush hours because  the street condition is bad. Sometimes people in Jakarta are selfish because they want to come to office or school earlier than others, so they do not care each others and they  only think about themselves. The most significant problem is caused by three factors ; street, vehicles, and human factors.

First, traffic jam in Jakarta is caused by its street condition. There are so many damaged streets in Jakarta. Even though Jakarta is the capital city of Indonesia, it is not a guarantee that the streets in Jakarta are good enough.. Next, narrow streets in Jakarta also cause  traffic jam. To expand the capacity of street in Jakarta is very difficult because the areas are limited.

            Second, vehicles also cause traffic jam in Jakarta. It happens because many people use private vehicles. Nowadays, cars and motorcycles can be bought easily by cash or credits. Then, busway also contributes the increase of traffic jam in Jakarta. Busway makes a traffic jam because the lane is only for busway not for other vehicles. Many people in Jakarta complain that busway only makes traffic jam worse because the segments are used for busway.

            Third, Reckless drivers play a big role in this horrible situation. bad habit of street users also gives impact to traffic jam in Jakarta. Many drivers don’t obey the traffic rules. They like to drive in the wrong way, ignore traffic light, or drive in a drunk or sleepy condition. Then, besides reckless drivers, indisciplined hawkers can cause traffic jam. Hawkers usually are on the crossroad or T-junction of traffic light. They are there to offer their services or goods. Consequently, many vehicles are stuck because of them. When the light is red, they struggle to offer their services or goods to drivers or passangers who get stuck. If the light is green, sometimes they are still on the street. So, vehicle can’t move  quickly and finally traffic jam happens.

People should realize that Jakarta should be free from traffic jam because it’s a capital city. Government and people must be serious to cope with this problem to solve the traffic jam, so that Jakarta can be free from it.
